Released just *HOURS* ago by the studios, here's the spanking-hot trailer from the much awaited "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" movie, with Nigerian British actor David Oyelowo.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes" is the seventh installment of a blockbuster franchise that started as "Planet Of The Apes" in 1963. This first movie chronicled the fall of mankind and the rise of intelligent apes through the points of view of astronaut George Taylor (Charlton Heston), as well as the apes Zira, Cornelius, and their ape son Caesar.
In "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", actor James Franco (Harry Osborn in the Spiderman trilogy) plays a scientist working on a cure for Alzheimer's by testing on apes. However, when test subject Caesar begins to amass extra-ordinary intelligence, the scientist takes him home to remove him from the cruel lab. This leads to a series of major global events.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes", is produced by franchise holder 20th Century Fox, but this time, with an entirely new interpretation and state-of-the-art visual effects from Weta Digital -- the visual effects company for the world's best-looking, best-selling movie of all time: AVATAR! Other stars in the movie include: James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Andy Serkis, Tom Felton, Brian Cox and David Hewlett.
David Oyelowo made history in 2001, as the first black actor to play an English king (King Henry VI) in the Royal Shakespeare Company's Shakespeare's trilogy of plays.
Since then he has played prominent roles in "Spooks", "The Last King of Scotland", to mention a few.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes", is due in theaters on August 5, 2011.
