Nigerian British Song Icon Taio Cruz for Billboard Music Awards

After a 4-year break, the Billboard Music Award is back, and its first round of announced performers include none other than Nigerian British singer, songwriter and producer Taio Cruz.

The awards will hold on May 22nd, and will air live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, on ABC. Other performers announced include Rihanna, The Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Antebellum. Awards will be given out based on Billboard chart rankings, across a variety of music genres including R&B, rap, pop, country, rock, alternative and Latin.

Born Adetayo Ayowale Onile-Ere in April 1983, Taio Cruz started his career at the age of 18, writing songs for other artists including Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Pussycat Dolls. In 2008, his debut album "Departure" captured the UK and earned him a MOBO Award nomination. In 2009, he released the album "Rokstarr", which included his UK and US No. 1 single "Break Your Heart", as well as hit track "Dynamite", which peaked at number 1 track on the US top 40.

This year, among several projects, Taio Cruz wrote and recorded the soundtrack "Telling the World" for the 20th Century Fox animated movie, "Rio". Enjoy the beautiful video below!
