Come May 7, Nigerian British track and field queen Christine Ohuruogu (MBE), will be joining a selection of top international athletes, invited to the JN Jamaica Invitational Meet.
The event, set to cost $120 million, will be broadcast on Television Jamaica (TVJ) and worldwide, courtesy of media firm IEC on Sports, with television rights globally in more than 25 countries, and an estimated viewership of 160 million households.
Christine Ohuruogu will be joined at the event by the world's finest athletic talent, including Veronica Campbell-Brown, Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce, Sherone Simpson, Kerron Stewart, Novelene Williams-Mills, Shericka Williams, Melaine Walker, Kenia Sinclair, Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake, Nesta Carter, Jermaine Gonzales, Michael Frater, Dwight Thomas and Ricardo Chambers, Wallace Spearmon, Darvis Patton, Kerron Clement, Terrence Trammell, Ryan Brathwaite, Antwon Hicks, Peter Van Der Wasthuizen, Carmelita Jeter, Sanya Richards, Kelly Ann Baptiste, Bianca Knight, Christine Ohuruogu, Debbie Ferguson, Marshevet Myers, Natasha Hastings and more.
Born May 1984 in Newham, east London, Christine Ijeoma Ohuruogu studied at University College London, where she graduated in Linguistics in 2005. Currently a full-time athlete, she specialises in the 400 metres race, for which she is the former Commonwealth and current Olympic champion. Her victory in the Beijing Games was the 50th Olympic gold for Great Britain in the Athletics event.
She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2009.
