If he gets the job, Idris Elba will be the first black man to take up the sensational role of agent 007 based on Ian Fleming’s book. The 42 year old is an exceptional actor who has won the hearts of many movie lovers with outstanding roles in block busters such as The wire, Thor and Mandela, in the African icon’s biography: Long walk to freedom.
He has garnered several golden globe nominations and wins, both at the Oscars and the Emmys for his prime-time television roles. Although the actor has denied any involvement in the next Bond 24 outing sequel which is in the making, he said he would love to play super spy 007 one day.
According to the same survey, 50% consider Connery the all-time Bond, followed by 19% for Brosnan and 17% for Moore. Despite Daniel Craig’s original and engaging contributions to this ripe strain of British Imperial fantasy, he only managed to rank third last, above two-time Dalton and one-time Lazenby.
Idris Elba's African roots hail from his Sierra Leonean father and Ghanaian mother who moved to England before he was born. He started his involvement in arts at the UK's National youth music theatre and thereafter started auditioning for various British films before breaking into Hollywood.
