After seven years behind the scenes, Senegalese American superstar Akon is set to hit the stage in a big way, with FIVE new albums, this year. Breaking the news recently on twitter, the Grammy nominated artist said the whole project, titled "Stadium" is for his fans who "stuck" with him. (continues below... )
According to Akon, each album will feature a different style of music: from Pop, Euro, Island, World, and Urban. The whole project will be rolled out over the course of 12 months. This will be a major comeback by the hit-maker, after several long years spent marketing, collaborating and producing new artists in the industry.
Akon, who has five African names, rose to fame with the release of "Locked Up", the first single from his debut album "Trouble", in 2004. He owns the record labels, Konvict Muzik and Kon Live Distribution, which have produced great talent over the years.
Akon has been on the forefront of promoting African talent in the U.S through international collaborations with African based stars. He is currently working with Airtel to search for new music talent across Africa, the winner gets a recording contract with his label.
