Senegalese born musician Akon is featuring in a Nigerian themed movie "Black November". The film tells the story of the trials and tribulations that a Niger delta community goes through, as a result of its oil wells -- its blessings and its curse. (continues below... )
The highly dramatic and emotional film follows the story of a Nigerian community’s battle with an oil conglomerate over rights of the oil rich Niger Delta land, and their quest for justice. The film released early 2015 is now on sale on DVD.
Directed by Jeta Amata, "Black November" casts American Grammy nominated Akon in a minor but relevant role. The film also features major Hollywood actors including Mickey Rourke, Wycliffe jean, Kim Basinger and Vivica Fox who also worked on the soundtrack of the film.
Akon is known for promoting African talent in Music and sports and is now venturing into film. Across Africa the American singer is known for his platinum selling club hits and collaborations with international musicians.
