South African Golf legend Gary player’s firm has been selected to oversee the creation of a new modern golf course in The Democratic Republic of Congo. The course named the "Golf du Kintélé" is to be developed in the capital city Brazzaville, near the stadium that will host the 2015 All-Africa Games. (continues below... )
The Golf hall-famer-said he was excited to develop the first international standard course in the Republic of Congo which will be used to encourage the growing number of Golf fans and players around the continent.
Gary player's top designer Jeff Lawrence said the golf course will lie close to river Congo. He said it will be developed with an environmentally friendly approach that will not interfere with Congo's natural resources.
Gary Player was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1935 at a country farm. He is one of the most travelled athletes world wide often in pursuit of sporting events. The golf legend has competed and won nine major championships on the regular PGA TOUR and an additional nine on the Senior or Champions Tour. He is also a three time President’s Cup Captain and was awarded the South Africa’s Sportsman of the Century Awarded in 2000.
